Mabuhay and welcome to the Province of Iloilo! Situated in the center of the Philippine archipelago, Iloilo is also nicknamed, “the Heart of the Philippines.”
In behalf of the Provincial Government of Iloilo, it is a great privilege to host the EAS Congress 2018 in the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC), Iloilo City. The ICC has previously hosted important assemblies, such as the APEC 2015’s High-Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and the Blue Economy and Related Meetings.
Home to congregations that encourage dialogues towards sustainable development, the ICC and its state-of-the-art facilities is a fitting setting to the EAS Congress 2018’s theme of celebrating partnerships made in the past 25 years and to bridging potential collaborations towards the future of the sustainable development of the East Asian Seas Region.
With a coastline of approximately 72 kilometers, Iloilo City is a coastal metropolitan area with a population of around 950,000 Ilonggos. In addition to your active participation to the EAS Congress 2018, we also extend our warm invitation for you to explore the historic and scenic side of the city and the rest of the province.
The EAS Congress 2018 will also feature a field trip to the neighboring Island-Province of Guimaras, a PEMSEA ICM site since 2006 with 470.29 kilometers of coastline.
We in the Provincial Government of Iloilo will prepare together with DENR, PEMSEA, and the various partners, agencies, and co-organizers, to stage the EAS Congress 2018 and ensure its success with your participation.
Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you in Iloilo City in November 2018.
